Meet Marmee! She’s the amazing mama of the Little Women litter and has been with us since February. Marmee loves getting pets at school just as much as she loves spending time in her foster homes. She’s well-behaved and walks great on a leash. Once she is bonded to you, you couldn't pay her to run away! She loves her person and just wants to be near you or in your lap. She is 30 lbs, potty trained, is good with cats, dogs, and small humans, and is relatively low energy. She lays around a lot, but does love a good walk. She could be a single animal or be in a home with other cats and dogs. As long as her person is around most of the time, the rest is negotiable! Whoever adopts Marmee will be getting a loyal companion for life!

Meet Caesar! We rescued this sweet boy on 2/10/25 from roaming the streets in Sumter, and he quickly revealed his wonderful personality. He has adapted beautifully to the classroom environment and is adored by all the students. This handsome boy has enjoyed his time in the classroom and his various foster homes. Caesar gets along well with other dogs and puppies, making him a fantastic companion. He’s eager to please and knows his manners. He also gets along with everyone he meets and walks well on leash but has to say hello to all squirrels 😂. He is down for every new adventure and loves being outside. He loves to cuddle and eats like a champ. We have no idea why he hasn't been adopted. Other dogs have come and gone and still sweet Caesar sits waiting for his turn. He is literally a great dog with no issues since we got him as a puppy and have watched him grown up in our rescue. He is such a sweet pup and would make the perfect addition to any family!

We took Gracie in on 12/5/24. She was skin and bones, had so many litters of pups her nipples literally dragged the ground, had/has a crushed front leg, was in pain, severely anemic, her nails were in terrible shape, and she was super lethargic. In short she was in rough shape. We later got a diagnosis

We took Gracie in on 12/5/24. She was skin and bones, had so many litters of pups her nipples literally dragged the ground, had/has a crushed front leg, was in pain, severely anemic, her nails were in terrible shape, and she was super lethargic. In short she was in rough shape. We later got a diagnosis of Babesia which is a tick borne illness that attacks your red blood cells and takes a long time to treat but we finally got that cleared up and were able to get her stable enough to spay her. In the middle of this we got an autoimmune diagnosis in which her nails are being attacked by her body causing them to break and bleed and we have been treating that. As time went on it became clear that she is an older dog. Normally we get dogs in super rough shape that look old but as time goes on they heal and look better. That just didn't happen with our Gracie girl. She is just an older dog that was never given a fair shake. Through it all she has been a trooper!!! Her coat is better, her nips no longer drag, and now she smiles!
At a recent vet appointment, we discussed her long term outlook. We are in a spot where we have done basically everything we can for her and now it’s a question of quality of life. She still loves to play, loves toys, is great with other dogs and cats, and has plenty of life left in her. She will likely be on meds for the rest of her life for her nails and pain management for her front crushed leg injury and arthritis. Since we have gotten her as healthy as we can, we have recently and finally put her up for adoption!
So! Anyone out there in the market for the sweetest older girl?!! She is SUCH an easy dog other than she needs meds, and she could really benefit from some acupuncture and a chiropractor. She is potty trained, great in a crate, loves her toys, and loves to lounge around. She will make a great addition to any family that is willing to love her and care for her in her old age.

Emmett and Chip were rescued from a really bad hoarding abuse case and sadly, spent most of their lives in a small crate. We have spent months teaching them how to walk, run, play, and socialize. Emmett has struggled more than Chip with potty training and socializing, but has recently started making huge strides. He was terrified of going outside initially, but has recently started going in the backyard willingly and is even starting to play out there with his doggy friends! He still wears belly bands while in the house but potty training is starting to really click. In short, he is discovering his new world and how to be a dog and is improving daily. Emmett gets along really well with other dogs and cats. He also thinks chickens are cool. He walks well on his leash but is still shy and nervous and will need someone with patience to help him build his confidence. He’s very curious and smart. He loves to wiggle on his back and play first thing in the morning. Having someone who can be with him most of the day would be ideal because he just wants to be near you and to be part of everything. He does well in his crate and loves car rides. Emmett is a wonderful dog and will make a terrific companion to the forever person willing to give him the happy ending he so much deserves.

He and Emmett were rescued from a really bad hoarding abuse case and sadly, spent most of their lives in a small crate. We have spent months teaching them how to walk, run, play, and socialize. Chip has made excellent progress and is now fully potty trained and plays great with his foster doggy friends. Despite what he has been through he exudes a gentle, sweet energy and wants nothing but love. While he can be shy around loud noises and new people, he warms up quickly with a calm approach, often seeking affection. Chip adores being outdoors and will spend hours in the backyard playing with friends and soaking up sunshine. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will always have a puppy-like spirit, Chip is waiting for his forever home.

We did all the things we were supposed to do to make him better including meds, special food, and surgery but when the sutures came out, so did his

Edward is finally up for adoption! Ed came to us back in early March. He had a prolapsed rectum and was in an extreme amount of pain. In theory this was an easy fix. We did all the things we were supposed to do to make him better including meds, special food, and surgery but when the sutures came out, so did his prolapse. We repeated the surgery and left the sutures in for 2 months and the plan was to let him live his best life and see where we were after that. Doctors were worried that it was nerve damage from some form of trauma causing his prolapse and that he couldn't be fixed. However we recently removed his sutures and his prolapse seems to have corrected itself!!! Therefore this handsome guy is officially up for adoption. He is potty trained, does great with other dogs and cats, and loves to go on walks. He is the sweetest, most handsome, most playful boy out there and deserves the bestest, goodest home there is! He is also a fan favorite among students and staff at the vet. We cannot guarantee that he won't have issues in the future but we are cautiously optimistic that he has made a full recovery and is good to go! Whoever adopts Ed will hit the jackpot!

Bailey is a 17 lb, 7 year old terrier mix and has all of the typical terrier qualities. He was an only child that lived in a quiet home so loves to guard his toys from other doggies and loves to bark at new people when they come over. However, he is learning how to share in his foster home and it’s going great! He is full of personality and loves nothing more than to be near you. He is a great cuddler, is potty trained and loves to go on walks! All of this is typical for the terrier breed as they were originally bred to guard the homestead. He is looking for his new home and will do well with other dogs and cats or as a single doggy as long as his person is around a lot for him to cuddle with. Wherever you are, he will follow. If he can’t lay in your lap he will lay on your feet and he makes the best bedtime companion out there!

We found this boy in the woods in North Charleston crying and alone. He has turned out to be the best little kitty! Sammy loves to play and will cheer you up by purring and loving on you if you are having a bad day. He will also run around and play with his toys contently. He is super low maintenance and can be left alone for a bit as long as he has a soft bed and some toys. He adores other kitties and is fine with doggies once he feels safe around them so would do best in a home with other animals since he is so friendly and social.
Sammy and Jimmy came in as singles but bonded instantly and are besties! While not mandatory, we would love to see them go to a forever home together.

Topanga is the “nice cheerleader” in school. She is confident, happy, and enjoys her pack. She rules the roost and is the leader of her siblings. She would be best suited for a family with a fence because she loooooooves to meander outside and enjoy the sights and smells. We are pretty sure she would enjoy spending 90% of her time outside, as long as it’s not raining. She loves laying out in the sun and taking in her surroundings. While she has not been exposed to babies yet, we have a feeling she will be a great nanny dog. She hears the neighbor’s child talking or crying, and it’s like instinct takes over. She makes a beeline for their house, intent on checking on the baby to make sure he is ok. One of her foster family's kids stubbed his toe recently, and she was all over him, trying to comfort him. She is rough and tumble with her litter mates, but she has been very gentle with each one of her foster children (and any visiting friends). She is great with other dogs, cats, kids, and chickens!
